I know that when I got back from camp I said (via the DDS/AI Media Twitter account) I’d post something “either today or tomorrow,” and it’s been a little over a week since then, but I’m posting now, so no whining.
Anywho, both Mike and I have got some new content up for your enjoyment – here’s the rundown: First, I’ve put up two old songs about eating and, in varying degrees, Christmas. Rudolf the Red-Nosed Dinner is old in the sense that it’s been previously posted on Alternative-Internet.com but hasn’t been up since the re-design. The Poultry Song is new the main site, though I’ve previously posted it in my blog.
Second, I’ve got a brand-new song up. It’s a swing-style song, perfect for a big band and finger tapping. If it’s reception from the first performance (without musical accompaniment) is anything to go by, then it’s terrible and you probably won’t enjoy it. It’s about a fish. Specifically: Mills – The Fish With No Gills
Third, Mike’s got up a new poem – and unlike some of his previous poems, such as Roads and Trees Will Become Our Tombstones [Forget Us Always],
this one is not very dark! Now, mind you, it is still somewhat dark, just not very dark. Of course, as one can expect from Mike’s poems, it is very good, so be sure to check out Colored Glass Lies, Broken Glass Cuts, No Glass Traps.
According to Mike, he wrote Colored Glass… in a mere fifteen minutes, which brings up a closing point I want to make: If Mike can throw together a great poem in fifteen minutes, think about what you could do with fifteen minutes. Now, I’ll give in that Mike is an amazing poet, and I don’t expect to see other people pouring out great poems every fifteen minutes, but that’s beside the point. Time is precious, and we don’t have a whole lot of it, so next time you’ve got fifteen minutes to spare, think about what you could be doing with them. Be it a decision between watching a YouTube video or writing a thank-you note, or between twiddling your thumbs and reading the latest quality interesting available content here on Alternative-Internet.com – it may seem like a small decision, but later, you may just thank yourself for taking two minutes to think about how to use that fifteen.
By the by, if you’re a slow reader, you probably spent fifteen minutes reading this post, thus totally destroying the value of my point. My condolences.
